Rhine Hits Record Low, Disrupting European Supply Chains

The Rhine has hit a historic 25cm at Kaub, its lowest level on record, and two months earlier in the season than the 2022 drought, raising the prospect of a prolonged supply chain disruption across Europe’s industrial core. Freight costs have surged sharply, with road and rail alternatives already stretched to capacity.
