Upper Rhine Set to be Blocked Off

Rising water levels on the Rhine are set to breach limits that will result in part of the river being blocked off, according to a report from Riverlake barging, a brokerage firm.
“By the end of the week, water levels on the Rhine are predicted to surpass the pegel limits at Maxau”: report “If that’s finally the case, barges aren’t allowed to pass and sail to upper Rhine destinations until the water decreases again” River would be closed off at Maxau, Germany, said Jelle Vreeman, senior broker.
